Since 2000, the world-renowned Foden’s Band have travelled to Armagh each February for a weekend of concerts and workshops. This has been followed each summer by a week long summer school for brass & percussion players of all ages and abilities.
All of these events were, and continue to be, the brainchild of Ivor Stevenson from the Armagh Old Boys Brass Band. Ivor continues to be a major driving force for the encouragment of brass playing in Northern Ireland. In honour of these achievments he is a Vice-President of Foden’s Band and was awarded an MBE for his services to banding in Northern Ireland.
The annual summer course gives brass enthusiasts the opportunity to study, learn, perform and socialise with world class tutors from Foden’s Band. Set in the historic city of Armagh, Northern Ireland, our base at the City of Armagh High School provides excellent facilities for learning, music making and enjoyment.
